Abstract:
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia and it is strongly associated with an increased risk of overall and cardiovascular mortality. Although the prevention of AF is an important health care issue, mainly owing to the prolongation of life expectancy, the evidence of established AF risk factors as well as the validation of AF risk scores are still limited.
