La frutta sulle tavole medievali e rinascimentali emiliane: testimonianze carpologiche dai siti archeologici

A review of carpological records dated to Mediaeval/Reinassance period in the Emilia Romagna region is presented, focusing on records of fruit (in the common sense of edible fruits). The records come from 7 archaeological sites located in 3 plain provinces. Altogether, 36 species were recognised (plus 4 carpological taxa) belonging to 23 genera and 14 families. In this article the fruit processing and consumption of the cultivated and wild plants, , is discussed. An attempt to reconstruct the cultural landscape of the fruit plants on the basis of taphonomical and archaeological data was carried out too.
