La co-regolazione nel settore dell’home-sharing: esperienze, bilanci e prospettive

The article examines the most significant co-regulation experiences in the home-sharing sector that have emerged in the EU and Italian context. Arising to ensure a more effective enforcement of the rules introduced on so-called short rentals or to share relevant data with public authorities, such practices have great potential, yet show more pronounced limitations. Lack of effectiveness, poor data sharing and limited transparency are just some of the problems that emerged from the analysis. However, the DSA and the Commission's proposal for a regulation on short-term housing rental, with the provision of new rules directed at platforms, seem to prefigure a new season of co-regulatory processes in the sector.
