Abstract:
Objective: In a previous study, Human gingival fibroblasts cultured in vitro have been exposed directly to Elite Implant (Zhermack, Badia Polesine, Rovigo). The gingival fibroblasts proliferation and vitality are unaffected by the presence of Elite Implant. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy of this elastomeric sterile and radiopaque impression material, indicated for the immediate implant loading protocol.
Materials and Methods: A case series of 14 cases of implant rehabilitation treated with immediate loading protocol have been followed for 20 months.
Results: Out of 62 implant placed we had 1 failure (98,4% success) and no prosthetic failures; the use of this material allowed us to control if in the post surgical radiographs was present a radiopacity of the trapped material; this event didn't happened.
Conclusions: This impression material may represent a safe medical device for clinical and surgical applications. In addition, this material is radiopaque and, thus, can be identified radiographically.
