Abstract:
The paper concerns the role of information systems in the field of luxury fashion. Over recent decades, this type of industry has been characterized by significant transformations in the quality and quantity of information needed to manage the practices of outsourced manufacturing. The analysis of a case study verifies the impact of ICTs on control systems and information management.
The results of the research are quite interesting: information and communication technologies could support companies that decide to outsource part of their production in foreign countries by acting on the damage to reputation and image due to counterfeiting. By using information systems, luxury fashion companies could measure their activities more precisely and control processes, thus motivating suppliers to operate correctly.
