Biografia.
Roberto Vezzani è nato a Correggio nel 1977.
Si è laureato in Ingegneria Informatica nel 2002 e ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria dell'Informazione nel 2007 presso l'Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. Dal 2008 al 2016 è stato Ricercatore Universitario di Informatica (INF/01). Dal 2016 è professore Associato nel campo dei sistemi di elaborazione dell'informazione (ING-INF/05) presso il Dipartimento di Ingegneria Enzo Ferrari dell'Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia. Dal 2018 al 2021 è stato Direttore dell'Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Center, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.


Attività di Ricerca
I suoi temi di ricerca riguardano principalmente la visione artificiale per la Human Computer Interaction, IoT, videosorveglianza automatica, con particolare attenzione al rilevamento del movimento, al tracking, alla classificazione delle azioni e all'annotazione automatica dei video. Tra gli altri, si occupa principalmente di algoritmi e sistemi basati su telecamere depth, event camersas, telecamere termiche e la loro integrazione con telecamere convenzionali e altri sensori.
Membro senior del gruppo di ricerca AimageLab dal 2003 (https://aimagelab.ing.unimore.it), Roberto Vezzani coordina l'unità di ricerca per progetti di ricerca di base e applicata per l'interazione uomo-macchina, utilizzando sensori RGB, di profondità e termici. Il laboratorio AimageLab e nello specifico Roberto Vezzani fa parte di numerose collaborazioni nazionali ed internazionali.
Dal 2019 è stato selezionato come Membro della società ELLIS.

[2021 – 2024] Scientific coordinator of the project commissioned by Toyota Motors Europe for the study of human pose estimation techniques in the industrial field. The funding also includes a threeyear scholarship for the doctoral school.
[2020 – 2021] Responsible of the Research project funded by Ferrari Spa for the use of in-car cameras to estimate the alertness status of the driver.
[2019 – 2020] Responsible of the Research project on "Studio di anomalie nell’ambito del progetto EPIDETECT" funded by MAPS group S.p.A for the study of anomalies in medical prescriptions using artificial intelligence techniques in order to identify situations of interest in the fight against epidemics and in particular Covid19
