abstract:
Besides supporting the transformation of its industrial structure,Algeria may pay more attention to the distortions caused by the high protection of its customs tariffs and proceed faster in its elimination implementing the EU association agreement and finalising the WTO accession. In stating clearly these objectives, the government should work with the civil society on a broad and shared vision of the long-term economic and social goals, in rder to avoid obstructive behaviours that have paralysed the economy for years.
