La mobilità aerea low-cost in Europa e la sostenibilità turistica s-Low

Starting with a brief description of the evolution of the EU airline industry after the opening of market to the low-cost carriers, this chapter offers a reflection on the use of these air carriers for the development of a new form of tourism that in the project Centrality of Territories was defined s-Low. This perspective is inspired by the idea of slow tourism, but at the same time gets away from it, taking the potential envisaged by low-cost air connections as a constitutive element of the relationship slow/fast freed from connotations of values stereotyped, recovering an idea of sustainability more complex and suited to highly urbanized areas such as Europe. Presenting the context, starting from the situation of low-cost mobility airline in Europe and the description of slow tourism, this chapter offers a new interpretation of these phenomena, introducing the concept of s-Low.
