The volume analyses the nexus between education, society and institutions in the work of Mary Wollstonecraft. It also offers a particular focus on some aspects which are relevant from a legal and philosophical perspective, such as: the relationship between rights, freedom and Republicanism; the mutual link between public and private sphere of existence; virtue and civic friendship; law and morals.
The arguments emphasise, following Wollstonecraft’s view, the relevance of the equality principle as a foundational criterion for citizenship.
