abstract:
The text is preceded by a Foreword by M. El Baradei, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and by a brief overview of the modernized nuclear liability regime prepared by the IAEA Secretariat. The text itself consists of an overview of the original IAEA nuclear liability regime, embodied in the 1963 Vienna Convention on Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, followed by an in-depth analysis of the two conventions adopted in 1997 in order to modernize that regime.
