Il deserto alle porte

The labyrinth and the desert, of which Borges writes about and which Ignazio Mortellaro references, are two different ways of challenging the doors and consequently of confronting different points of view. The labyrinth is an extreme attempt of protection, a pursuit destined to fail.The desert is a pre architectural space and could not be otherwise. Apparently the opposite of the labyrinth, it is instead it’s natural relation. Paradoxically, these metaphors both illuminate and constrain the ways in which we think about time in art.
