The essay analyses those forms of regular employment and positions at the margin of the labour force showing also a high degree of precariousness, with a high discontinuity in their labour supply experience. Involuntary atypical work is also analysed with a special focus on transitions from unstable to stable employment positions. The family role in sustaining unstable and precarious employment positions is also analysed and policy suggestions are discussed to tackle the different dimensions of marginality and precariousnees.
