The Emergent Synchronization of Reproduction and Molecular ReplicationPO BOX 17, 3300 AA DORDRECHT, NETHERLANDS : Springer Verlag, 2017. - ISBN 978-94-024-1158-4. - pp. 1-14 [10.1007/978-94-024-1160-7_1]
abstract:
Protocells should be similar to present-day biological cells, but somehow simpler (see Rasmussen et al. 2008; Schrum et al. 2010 and further references quoted therein). They are believed to have played a key role in the origin of life, and they may also be the basis of a new technology with tremendous opportunities. So the prefix proto may be interpreted either as indicating ancient times or in the sense of prototype.
