A Look Back at Early Economics Blogs: A Multimodal Analysis of Indexicality and Identity Construction

The present contribution focuses on two small corpora of economics blogs published respectively by an Indian and an American economist: Bibek Debroy and Tyler Cowen. By adopting a multimodal approach, the analysis aims to investigate the co-occurrence of the different semiotic resources contributing to the meaning-making process, with a view to shedding light on the forms of belonging and identities favored by the two bloggers. Moreover, in order provide a retrospective overview of how early blogs were designed and conceived in their early stages of existence, and with the purpose to understand how they have now evolved,
