Lo sceriffo euro-unitario nel “Crypto Far West”

The aim of the paper is to analyse the crypto phenomenon and the action implemented so far by the European Union in order to regulate it. In this regard, firstly, we examine the nature of cryptocurrencies; secondly, we deepen the first initiatives carried out on the topic by the various EU institutions and, then, we highlight the main elements outlined in Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 (MiCA). Finally, this essay suggests some interventions that, in our view, should be designed in the forthcoming years with the target of fine-tuning a regulatory framework which is still in fieri.
