abstract:
The main aim of the project was the identification of the effects of the EU enlargement to East European countries for Mediterranean countries (MED) and EU-MED relations. The assessment hasbeen concentrated on trade relations (competition among the two regions) and on FDI attractiveness. Both commercial and FDI flows have been analysed for the period 1989-1998.The project focussed the question of whether the next EU enlargement will sets up forces which encourage or discourage the Euro-MED evolution towards further improvements and integration.The outcome of the research are summarised into three papers.
