The essay aims to examine the collective dimension of workers' representation in matters of safety at work, with particular reference to the figure of the RLS (Rappresentante dei Lavoratori per la Sicurezza - Workers' Safety Representative) provided by Italian legislation. Lastly, this figure was the subject of an important ruling by the Italian Criminal Court of Cassation, which recently established that the RLS who does not correctly fulfill his functions may face criminal liability.
