abstract:
The fieldwork at Monte della Croce (Gaggio Montano, Bologna) is coordinated by the team of Prehistory and Protohistory of the University of Bologna in the framework of the research cluster Archaeology of the Uplands and in collaboration with other Universities and Institutions. The main objective of the project is to investigate upland economy, subsistence strategies, settlement and territorial organization during the second millennium BCE, by applying the most modern methods of excavation, documentation and analysis of the archaeological record in an interdisciplinary perspective. Here we present our approach, a synthesis of the stratigraphic evidence from the investigated sectors and a preliminary chrono-cultural assessment.
