The procedures of naltrexone treatment for the maintenance of a drug-free state from opioids are described.
Treatment with naltrexone (a competitive antagonist of the opioid receptors with oral activity and long duration of action) must be employed in order to establish a therapeutic relationship with the patients as a starting point for rehabilitation to maintain and strengthen a drug-free life style once the drug free condition is reached
