Research activities focus on nonlinear solid mechanics, with particular emphasis on highly deformable materials. An integrated approach is adopted, combining analytical modeling, finite element (FEM) simulations, and experimental validation. Special attention is devoted to materials exhibiting strongly nonlinear behavior, such as rubbers, elastomers, and soft tissues, characterized by large deformations. The research includes the development and identification of advanced constitutive models, their implementation in numerical codes, and comparison with experimental data obtained from dedicated mechanical testing. Applications range from civil and structural engineering, with particular reference to seismic isolation devices, to the biomedical field, for instance in the development of materials and devices for surgical simulation.
