GIARRÈ Laura

Laura Giarré was born in Firenze, Italy, July 14, 1960. She received the Laurea degree in Electronic Engineering in 1986 from the Università di Firenze, Itlay and the PhD degree in System Engineering in 1992 from the Università di Bologna, Italy. From 1986 to 1988, she was at the Research Laboratory of the Autostrade SPA as a Research Engineer. From 1988 to 1993, she was with the Università di Firenze, Italy. From 1993 to 1998, she was with the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. From 1998 to 2016 she joined the Università di Palermo as Associate Professor of Systems Theory. From 2016 sha has been Professor at DIEF, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and form 2020 adjuct professor at IIR, NTNU, Norvrway. In 1999 and in 2006 she has been visiting professor at the University of California at Santa Barbara. and in 2015 at CSAIL, MIT, Cambridge, (MA). She is co-editor of the book Multidisciplinary Research in Control (Springer Verlag, 2002). She has co-organized 'The Mohammed Dahleh Symposium', held in 2002 at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She was vice-chair of the International Conference SING6, Palermo, 2010. She is in the organizing Committee of the workshop 'Interconnected Systems: From Biological to Manmade Networks', June 2012 at MIT, Cambridge. She is the Registration Chair for the IEEE CDC 2013. She is the general chair of the Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, Palermo, June 2014. She was Associate Editor of IEEE transaction on Automatic Control and Systems and Control Letters. She is member of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation Advisory Board and she has organized and chaired trhee workshops on assistive technology, In 2021 she is co-general chair e co-program chair of the Mediterranean control conference, Puglia, and co program chair of the IFAC worksohop on LPV, Milan. Her current research interests include system identification and control theory with applications to network systems, robotics and assistive technologies,
