Curriculum Vitae

Full Professor of Human Anatomy at the Medical School of University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (IT). She was Director of the School of Specialization in Sports Medicine (from 2008 to 2017), Director of the Postgraduate Course in "Motor Educator" (2013-2014), Dean's Delegate for Orientation/Tutoring (2019-2025) and Vice-Director of the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic and Neuroscience Sciences, for two three-year period 2018-2021 and 2021-2024. Awards: ▪ “Lifetime Achievement in Physiopathology” awarded by the ‘Centre for Women Development of Venus International Foundation’ as part of the 10th Annual Women's Meet - AWM 2025 held in Chennai, India (March 2025). ▪ In the TOP 5 for the Italian Intellectual Property Award 2023: the patent proposal ranked second in the MEDical-TECH category for female entrepreneurship. ▪ “Best Poster” (SIAI 2016, 1986). Invited speaker-ECTS 43° Symp. (Heidelberg-D,1996). Scientific activity mostly concerning the histophysiopathology of bone tissue: osteocyte differentiation; osteocyte as bone mechanosensor; static and dynamic osteogenesis; osteocyte role in bone remodeling; Leptin expression and Ferutinin function in bone metabolism; osteocyte death in multiple myeloma; committed versus multipotent SCs cultured on different biomaterials; apoptosis/inflammation after osteochondral lesions; scleral ossicles as natural scaffolds to improve regenerative medicine for bone regeneration. Coordinator (PI) of funded projects by: Regional funds-ER, UNIMORE-Public Engagement (2020), FAR equipments-UNIMORE (2018), Lilly-USA (2013-15), Banking Foundation (2013-15, 2011-12, 2009-10, 2008, 2007), Popular Bank (BPER, 2007-09). Participation to PRIN ‘97,‘99,2001,2004.
