Leghe di ALluminio per componenti soggetti a fatica E fretting: Rivestimenti e Trattamenti superficiali integrati ID 38656 PG/2023/310287
Project luminum alloys (Al) allow for a significant reduction in weight in numerous critical components. At the same time, fatigue and surface fatigue phenomena induced by fretting (reciprocal movements of very limited amplitude for a high number of cycles) represent a limit to the reliability and performance of these alloys. ALERT will focus on aeronautical applications based on case studies, extending the results to structures for the aerospace field, with the following objectives: 1) selection and determination of the fatigue strength of Al alloys, including those manufactured through Additive Manufacturing, under fatigue and fretting conditions; 2) selection and application of surface treatments and optimized coatings to increase the fatigue strength of the alloys selected in 1); 3) construction and fatigue testing of demonstrators made with the best combinations of alloys and surface modifications obtained in 1) and 2); 4) extension of the solutions developed to structural components for space applications through fatigue life calculations according to the requirements of Space Agencies. The research activity will range from TRL 4 (laboratory tests on samples of the most effective treatments and coatings) to TRL 6 (fatigue tests on demonstrators in test benches).
