The FLARE project addresses the topics of interest defined with the RESTART project by SPOKE 7 (topic 2).
Specifically, FLARE addresses:
1) Extension of the cognitive capabilities from the single sensor to a network of sensors. The sensors in the network can be active or passive, dedicated to one single mission (sensing/imaging or communication) or dual use. Particular attention will be devoted to energy consumption, optimizing the use of resources shared in the network, such as waveforms, time, frequency, antenna elements and positions, and energy.
2) Testing of ISAC algorithms, proposed by the research Units involved in the RESTART structural project ISaCAGE of Spoke 7, and by those of this proposal, through experimental demonstrators equipped with flexible mmWave MIMO devices for sensing and communication.
The project features 5 work packages (WPs). WP0 is devoted to management, while WP1, 2, 3, and 4 perform the research activities. WP1 and 4 develop fundamental research activities that address the above mentioned points, while WP2 and 3 perform industrial research and provide proof-of-concept platforms to test theoretical techniques in realistic setups.
