ASAP Ausschreibung 2023 - Partnerantrag (Progetti di Ricerca dell’Austrian Research Promotion Agency, FFG)
Project The goal of the project is to exploit S1, S2, SAOCOM, GEDI and ICESAT EO data to develop a high-resolution multi-frequency data cube for vegetation monitoring in Austria with high quality and reliability through rigorous evaluation with in-situ observations and laser scanning data. Its application value will be demonstrated through a use case for assessing vegetation drought response. The project shall lead to improved monitoring capabilities for vegetation and an enhanced knowledge base on the response of vegetation to drought stress, corresponding to the research needs highlighted by WCRP and the SDGs. It will also prepare the way for upcoming Copernicus missions BIOMASS and ROSE-L by providing a scientific baseline for obtaining vegetation indicators from L-band data. A robust research plan is designed to achieve the goals, where satellite indicators are evaluated with high quality in situ data and are used to monitor vegetation drought impact.
