Collaborative Perception and Edge Computing for Reliable and Trusted Autonomous Transport Environments
Project The COOPERATE project is dedicated to developing and implementing advanced solutions for urban mobility, with a strong focus on connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) and the sustainable management of urban logistics. The primary goal is to enhance the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of urban transport by leveraging innovative technologies such as collaborative perception and autonomous driving, enabled by energy-efficient embedded computing architectures. Key activities of the project include: Designing an advanced perception system for CAVs that provides a shared, comprehensive view of the urban environment. Enhancing the architecture of in-vehicle electronic systems to support next-generation mobility solutions. Developing secure and modular computing platforms tailored to the needs of autonomous vehicles. Introducing remote driving capabilities for emergency situations and complex environments, strengthening the safety and reliability of autonomous operations.
To ensure real-world relevance, testing will be carried out in actual urban environments, guaranteeing practical validation within the European mobility context. By driving innovation in connected and autonomous vehicle technologies, COOPERATE will play a pivotal role in the transition towards sustainable urban mobility, reducing environmental impact while improving the quality of life in European cities.
