Little is known that Freud, psychoanalytic founding father, has been, when he was a young medical student at the Vienna University, comparative neuroanatomist and that he can be considered as a neurosciences pioneer. Freud carried on researchers both on invertebrates nervous system and on Petromyzon and set innovative histology method of impregnation with golden salts. Here are discussed these first, less known, Freud’s researchers and the influences these had on neurobiology and comparative neurology.
