Abstract:
The essay focuses on the concept of “retrotopia”, as defined by Zygmunt Bauman as a
sort of idealization of the past. The authors apply this concept to the genre of science fiction, highlighting some cases of film remakes as paradigmatic of this drift and striving to read this process through the cultural trend of “collapsology” to thematize the decomposition of urban spaces and its impact on human relationships in civil society
and the way people cope with the uncertainty of the future.
