MAURO Sara Giovanna

After earning a PhD in International Management at the Institute of Management of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, and gaining research experience at Italian and international universities, I became a Researcher at the Marco Biagi Department of Economics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2022-2024). Since January 2025, I have been an Associate Professor in Business Economics at the same department.

I teach Business Economics and Planning and Control.

My research interests primarily concern performance measurement and management in the public sector, innovations in budgeting processes (e.g., participatory budgeting; performance budgeting, etc.), co-production of public services and public value, and digitalization of public services.

Throughout my career, I have participated in various research projects, both as a research group member and as group leader.
I currently coordinate the UNIMORE research unit in the PRINPNRR project "The digital transformation of public services: a multistakeholder governance approach" and I am a member of the UNIMORE research unit in the PRIN project "Towards circular economy: a business model innovation perspective."

Since the 2023-2024 academic year, I have been a member of the Quality Committee of the Marco Biagi Department of Economics, with reference to the Research area, and since the 2022-2023 academic year, I have been a member of the Academic Board of the Doctoral Program in Labor, Development, and Innovation.
