CAPERCHIONE Eugenio

Eugenio Caperchione (married, 63, 1 son) teaches Public Management and Public Sector Accounting at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where he has also served as the Head of the Business Management Department (2005-08) and as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics (2008-12).
He earned his Ph.D. in Business Management from the Bocconi University, Milan.
His main research area is public sector accounting, and he privileges the comparative approach. He has published extensively on this subject, and has taken intensively in the work of CIGAR (Comparative International Governmental Accounting Research - http://www.cigar-network.net), where he served as the Chairman of the Board from 2009 to 2019. He is also a Co-chair of the EGPA Permanent Study Group XII “Public Sector Financial Management”.
He is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of PMM, Public Money & Management. He is a referee for FAM, Financial Accountability & Management in Governments; IRAS, International Review of Administrative Sciences; IJPSM, International Journal of Public Sector Management; PAR, Public Administration Review. He is a member of the IPMN, International Public Management Network and a guest member of the German Public Management Scientific Committee.
He has been involved in the EPSA 2007, European Public Sector Award, in which he acted as the leader of the Group of Experts called to evaluate applications for the ”Targeting with scarce resources“ award section. He has been an invited speaker and has presented papers in a number of international conferences and workshops. He has been a visiting professor in the Academy of Economics, Cracow (Poland), 1993; in the University of Klagenfurt (Austria), 2000; in the Institut d’Administration des Entreprises, Poitiers (France), 2007; and in Kristianstad University (Sweden), 2012, as well as a visiting scholar in the University of Postdam (Germany), 2003.
