ORAZI Leonardo

Leonardo Orazi was born in Rimini on February 28, 1968. After graduating as a mechanical engineering technician, he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1993. In 1995, he was admitted to the PhD programs in Applied Mechanics and Mechanics of Materials at the University of Bologna, choosing the latter specialization.
In 1998, he obtained his PhD in Mechanics of Materials by defending, at the University of Pisa, a dissertation entitled “Mathematical Modeling of Structural Failure: Parameters Influencing the Fatigue Threshold.”
After one year as a research fellow at the University of Bologna, in 2001 he won a competition for the position of university researcher in the scientific-disciplinary sector ING-IND/16, Manufacturing Technology and Production Systems, and joined DISMI – Department of Sciences and Methods for Engineering at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
Since 2023, he has been Full Professor in the academic sector IIND-04/A at the same Department.
Over the years, he has taught courses in Manufacturing Technology, Manufacturing Studies, Special Technologies, and Integrated Manufacturing Systems within Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Mechatronics Engineering and Management Engineering, delivering more than 3,600 hours of classroom teaching.

Since 2025, he has been Coordinator of the PhD Program in “Industrial Innovation Engineering” at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

He is the author of approximately 100 international publications on advanced manufacturing processes, with particular focus on laser machining processes using ultrashort pulse sources.
