ORLANDINI Stefano

Stefano Orlandini is a Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, Italy. He has been Adjunct Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Duke University, USA (2013-2016). He is a fellow of the “Accademia Nazionale di Scienze, Lettere e Arti di Modena” (2016-present). He received his Diploma (M.Sc.) with honors in Civil Engineering from the University of Parma (1991) and his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hydrology from the “Politecnico di Milano” Technical University (1995). He was Visiting Scientist at the INRS-ETE, Université du Québec, Canada (2007) and at the Duke University, USA (2013). His research interests include: terrain analysis, surface flow propagation, surface–subsurface flow interaction, and flood prevention measures. He won the Giulio Supino Prize (1992), and the American Geophysical Union Travel Fellowship for Young Scientists (1999). He is a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), European Geosciences Union, International Association of Hydrological Sciences. From 2014 he is an Associate Editor of Water Resources Research. From 2019 he is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydrology. He served as a grant peer reviewer for institutions as: Italian Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca, US National Science Foundation, and Romanian National Research Council. He has been responsible of research programs for: UNESCO, Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, and Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
