III. Personal Research Project
His fields of research are modern and contemporary history and the history of the Church, in particular the relationship between religion and the media, "making him one of the first scholars in the history of Christianity to have used audiovisual sources for the study of the contemporary church and papacy, with innovative and high-impact results" (ASN), the Second Vatican Council, the history of the Popes, Italian Catholicism and religious illiteracy, Lorenzo Milani and the Florentine church, power relations between politics and religion, and American Catholicism. Recently, he has begun to work on the Church and the Mafia and on innovative systems for cataloguing non-Latin alphabets.

From 2007 to 2020 he participated, as invited speaker or as selected papers, in 67 International or national Congresses (Oxford, London, Toronto, New York, Paris, Bangalore – India, Tokyo in occasion of the G20 Interfaith). From 2007 to 2020 he organized 21 international or national congress, seminars, panels.
He participated to the group that created the European Academy of Religions (2016) and he coordinate for FSCIRE the organization of the annual conference with over 1.200 participants coming from all over the word.
He was in the scientific and technical committee that organized the G20 Interfaith 2021 in Italy. The event hosted 370 religious leaders, politicians, and scholars from 70 countries.

1. From 2008 up to the present day Ruozzi has published 2 monographs, 3 Critical Editions published in the series Meridiani Mondadori, and 49 book chapters/essays, and journal articles, 4 dictionary entries, 16 Atlas entries; he has edited 4 volumes for Il Mulino, Treccani, Jaca Book and Meridiani Mondadori
2. He edited volumes translated into English, Spanish, German, Polish
3. His research books were presented and discussed in seminars, workshops, and reviewed by the most important international Journals
4. The Critical Edition of the “Don Lorenzo Milani. Opere” (2017, 2 t.) was presented at the Bookcity Festival, Salone del libro of Turin, Fiera del libro of Milan (with the opening speech by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research and the President of Rai-Tv) and in 127 cities in Italy and abroad. It was reviewed by the most important newspapers, scientific journals and, for the first time, by the Pope Francis
5. Most of his essays in collective volumes have been published by important international and Italian publishers as il Mulino, Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana - Treccani, Utet, Viella, Storia e Letteratura, Oxford University Press, Palgrave, Brepols, Routledge
