Project The DIADEM project builds upon the MOliere project, which enabled the development of a high-resolution and cost-effective torque/speed and pressure sensor based on a MEMS deformation sensor. In the DIADEM project, there is a plan to broaden the spectrum of potential applications for this technology by installing the MEMS sensor in various demonstrators. The goal is to propose innovative techniques for monitoring these demonstrators. Indeed, with the precise and non-invasive measurement of deformation provided by the sensor, the following can be achieved:
Indirectly estimate operating parameters of the monitored component.
Diagnose the possible occurrence of defects.
Particularly, with the collaboration of companies, four types of demonstrators are expected to be developed: reducers, electric motors, volumetric pumps, and fastening systems. In more detail, the following measurements will be taken into account: torque and speed, variations in the rotating magnetic field, speed and pressure, and estimation of the transmitted load. Finally, concerning real-time diagnostics, it will be necessary to develop dedicated diagnostic algorithms for each component, based on both Machine Learning techniques and Digital Twin approaches.
