PAVAN Paolo

Graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Padova, where he received his Ph.D. in 1994. From 1992 to 1994 he was graduate student and visiting research engineer at the University of California at Berkeley (U.S.A.).
In 1994 Research Associate at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy and in 1998 Associate Professor. Since 2004 he is Full Professor of Electronics at the same University. From 2010 to 2012 member of the Academic Senate, Rector's delegate for Research since 2019. He is Senior Member of the IEEE since 2013.
His research interests are in the field of electrical characterization and modeling of solid state devices, presently nonvolatile semiconductor memories. He cooperates with italian and foreign companies for the development of new semiconductor memories, also in neuromorphic applications. In 2002 and 2003 he was member of the technical subcommittee "CMOS and Interconnect Reliability" of International Electron Device Meeting (IEDM) and in 2004 he is Chairman of the same Subcommittee, in 2005 and 2006 he is European Vice-Chair of the Meeting. He was chariman of the technical committee in "Nonvolatile and Programmable Device Reliability" subcommittee of ESREF2002. Guest editor of IEEE Transactions on Device and Material Reliability for the Sept. 2004 Special Isuue "Nonvolatile Memory Reliability". From 2006 to 2010 he is member of the Techncal Committee of "International Symposium on VLSI Technology, System and Applications (VLSI-TSA)", Taiwan. In 2012 he is member of the Techincal Committees of ESREF and ESSDERC. He is now member of the Steering Committee of ESSDERC. He is Associate Editor of IEEE Journal of Electron Device Society and Editorial Board Member of Micromachines
His applied research is on embedded systems, also in automotive applications, and co-founded two spin-offs.
He is responsible of many european and national research projects.
He published more than 120 papers on international journals and conferences.
