CASTAGNETTI Cristina

Cristina was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy. She receives her Master Science Degree in Environmental Engineering in 2006 with honors and took her PhD in 2010. She was visiting scholar in 2009 at the SPIN – Satellite Positioning and Inertial Navigation Laboratory of The Ohio State University. She developed her research activity as a post-doc research fellow since 2012, participating to several research projects, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the scientific fields of geomatics engineering, surveying and monitoring with integrated technologies. She has been particularly involved in developing solutions based on multiple sensors, including GNSS systems, laser scanning, photogrammetry-based approaches and the related data processing issues. Her expertise was exploited to implement geomatics solutions to a wide range of applications such as those related to geosciences, natural hazards, cultural heritage and archaeology. She was lecturer at the University of Bologna and at the University of Ferrara.
She is now Associate Professor of Geomatics since November 2018 at the Department of Engineering "Enzo Ferrari".
She managed the editorial board of Bollettino SIFET, the national journal of the Italian Society of Photogrammetry and Topography, from 2011 to 2018. She was also elected to the SIFET Executive Board for the 2023–2026 term and to the SIFET Scientific Committee for the 2019- 2022 term.
Co-founder of an academic startup, GEIS – Geomatics Engineering Innovative Solutions SRL, in 2014, she was vice-president and member in the board of directors from 2014 to 2019.
She participated to several national and international conferences discussing the results of her research and is author and co-author of several scientific publications in peer review international journals. She also regularly acts as reviewer for many scientific national and international peer review journals.
She won the 'MIT Innovators under 35 – 2015 italian edition’ competition.
